SHILLONG: Taking a significant step forward, long-serving Rangdajied United FC assistant coach Khlain P Syiemlieh has successfully completed the Asian Football Confederation B-Certificate Course, held in Mizoram from August 18-September 6.

Syiemlieh was one of 24 participants in the course, which included participants from various clubs and nominees from state associations.

There were 10 people who passed, including several from the North East – R Lalremtluanga, Lalruatliana Sailo, Danny Lalduhawma (all three from Mizoram) and Gumpe Rime (Arunachal Pradesh).

Syiemlieh has been with the club for the past six years and has served under many head coaches.

The former football player was also with Rangdajied when they won the 2nd Division I-League earlier this year.

According to the AFC website, the B Coaching Certificate is meant to educate coaches in advanced techniques and skills of the game.

Coaches should have already cleared the C-Certificate before applying.

The course is of a 20-day duration, containing more than 107 hours of theoretical and practical contents and will help coaches develop a better understanding of individual or groups of players, tactics and the mental requirements of football.

The course is open to those with a minimum of two years coaching experience.
