SHILLONG: Tyrsad Hr Sec School cruised to a 5-0 victory on Thursday, beating Don Bosco of Maharashtra in a Subroto Cup under-17 girls match in New Delhi.

Pynhun Chulet (incorrectly spelt as Shulet in Wednesday’s edition) repeated her hat-trick performance from the day before to net three goals for the Meghalaya team.

Pynhun had scored all three goals on Wednesday in her team’s tough 3-2 win over a school from Tamil Nadu.

Thursday also saw a goal each scored by Idashisha Mawlong and Felicia Fancon.

Tyrsad Hr Sec are atop the five-team Pool D.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu recovered from their earlier defeat to thrash an Air Force school from Delhi 16-0. The other team in Pool D are Afghanistan, who had a rest day.

That was not the only one-sided result, with NCC (North East Region) winning 21-0 against Fountainhead School, Gujarat, a record in this edition.

In other girls matches, RMSM Vidhyalaya, Manipur, beat IPSC 8-0, while Borguri High School, Assam, were 3-0 winners against Ahlcon Public School, Delhi.

Tyrsad will play their next match on Saturday.

Junior (U-17) boys matches were also held on Thursday, though not with Meghalaya’s OM Roy Memorial HS School, who will be playing a semifinal match on Saturday.

In some of the boys matches on Thursday, Assam drew 1-1 against TAFS, while Mizoram swept aside Lakshadweep 8-0.

All North East U-14 boys final today

Meanwhile, Friday is a chance to create history for Betkuchi High School of Kamrup, Assam, and Government Chawngfianga Middle School, Mizoram, in the title clash of the U-14 boys category.

Although teams from Mizoram have won the title in the past, it is the first time that Chawngfianga School have entered the final.

Assam, meanwhile, have never won the U-14 title and Betkuchi will be eager to script history.

Betkuchi, in fact, are the first school from Assam to enter the final of the U-14 category.

The match is scheduled to start at 9:45am. (with agency inputs)
