Decorated slum

The State Government painted a rosy picture as far as the artificial beautification of pathways through which the President travelled on Monday to the temporary Assembly at Rilbong. Besides the overnight repair of roads leading to the Assembly, the ugly spots especially the surroundings of shabby dwellings at Zigzag road at Rilbong were also covered and decorated by the Government to show that Shillong is neat and clean.

PA Sangma

Though the State leader PA Sangma was his opponent in the race to the post of the President in July last, President Pranab Mukherjee did not fail to mention about Sangma in his speech in Assembly.

While recollecting the contributions of the stalwarts of Meghalaya who were instrumental in bringing progress to the State, the President said, “I have deep appreciation to the stalwarts of Meghalaya including Nichols Roy, Captain Williamson Sangma, PA Sangma, GG Swell, PR Kyndiah and BB Lyngdoh who made tremendous contributions to the State.
