SHILLONG: Taking cognisance of the sharp rise in the price of onion, the District-level Price Monitoring Committee has fixed the rate of wholesale price of onion (Red) at Rs 65 – Rs 70 per kg. The maximum retail price is being at Rs 80 per kg till further notice.
The Deputy Commissioner (Supply), in a statement, said any overcharging by the wholesalers or retailers can be brought to the notice of his office with full particulars.
At the moment, the price of one kilogram of onion ranges between Rs 80 to 85 in Iewduh, the commercial hub of the city.
PTI adds from New Delhi: Meanwhile, Food Minister K V Thomas on Friday said onion prices will come down in the next 10 days with the fresh arrival of domestic and imported stock, while asking the traders not to “loot” consumers by charging more.
