SHILLONG: The 2nd Chief Minister’s Invitational Football Tournament kicked off in Ampati on Monday.
The tournament was opened by Sports and Youth Affairs Minster Zenith M Sangma.
In the first match Maram FC defeated Druma Sandruma SC 7-2.
The winner of the tournament will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, according to the District Sports Officer, Jasper P Marak.
Earlier, in his speech, Sangma said that every block headquarters will have amenities to promote sports.
“Ampati playground (the venue for the competition) will be improved with an artificial turf and the tender has already been floated,” the Minister said.
