Electronic gadgets missing from Additional Secretariat

SHILLONG: In what could be termed as a “gross lapses” on the part of the Additional Secretariat officials responsible for looking after its security, electronic gadgets were reported missing from the room of the parliamentary secretary incharge of Information & Public Relations, Rophul S Marak on Tuesday.

The electronic gadgets, which include a Central Processing Unit (CPU), keyboard and mouse, were stolen from the chamber of Marak, who represents Rongara Siju in the State Assembly.

According to police, Marak’s peon Anita G Momin found at around 12.30 noon that the CPU, the keyboard and the mouse were missing. She reportedly went to the room to hear songs in the computer.

Personnel from the finger print bureau and Dog Squad arrived at the spot to carry out the investigation.

In this connection, police have registered a theft case.

Police are yet to ascertain whether the gadgets were stolen by outsider or by people from inside the office premises even as they hinted on the possibility of outsiders intruding into the secretariat to commit the offence.
