Four new depts inaugurated at NEHU Tura Campus

TURA: The NEHU, Tura Campus, introduced four new academic departments – Agri-business Management & Food Technology, Horticulture, Computer Science and History and Archaeology, and a new program of study – MBA service Management.

In this respect, the inauguration of the first academic session of the four new departments was held on Monday at NEHU Permanent Campus at Chasingre, Tura.

Prof. Milton Sangma graced the occasion as the chief guest and he appreciated the academic contribution of the campus in the development of North Eastern region in particular and the country in general.

He encouraged the activities of NEHU Tura campus for commencing of four new departments and one new programme of study.

Pro-Vice Chancellor of NEHU, Tura Campus, Prof. ED Thomas, highlighted the various initiatives taken up by the Tura Campus such as shifting of the departments to the permanent campus and the opening of various new academic departments and programmes during the session 2013-14.

He also focussed on the future course of action for the growth and development of the Tura Campus.

The convener of the organising committee, Prof. JU Ahmed welcomed the gathering and introduced the programme.

Prof. CP Suresh introduced the new academic departments while Prof. G Singaiah proposed the vote of thanks.

The faculty members, non-teaching staffs of NEHU, office bearers of civil societies, NGOs, Nokmas and Government officials attended the function.
