Nongkrem Dance

The Nongkrem Dance, the annual thanksgiving festival of Hima Khyrim, held at Smit, East Khasi Hills, will be celebrated on November 13 and 14.

Freshers’ meet

The Karbi Students’ Annual fresher’s cum social meet was held recently at Anton Hall, Laitumkhrah. Organised by the Karbi Students’ Association, Shillong, this programme was attended by many government officials of Meghalaya and Assam.

The National Disaster Reduction Day was observed at Ri Bhoi on Tuesday. To mark the occasion, the District Disaster Management Authority organised various programmes on the theme ‘Disaster Preparedness in Schools’, participated by various schools.

Awareness

The Bouncers’ Association of Meghalaya will organise an awareness programme on ‘crime against women’ at Mawkasiang Community Hall on October 31 at 8 am.

Dorbar concern

The Dorbar Shnong of Lapalang has expressed concerned over the incident where a group of person armed with iron rods chased District Administration officials and police during an eviction drive in the land of one Sylvania Kharkongor at Bihari Colony, Lapalang.

Exhibition

Taal Academy of Dance, Music and Fine Arts, located at Nongrim Hills, Shillong in association with SAN-KER Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Centre is organizing an exhibition cum sale of artworks by the mentally, physically and visually challenged from November 8-10 at the Art & Culture Hall, State Central Library, Shillong.

Seminar

The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, EFL University, Shillong Campus in partnership with UNICEF Assam is going to organise a Northeastern regional seminar on the theme ‘Child Rights and the Media’ on October 31 and November 1 at EFL University, Shillong Campus, located at Umshing inside NEHU Permanent Campus.

Kali Puja

The Yogamaya Ashram, Laban, will celebrate the Dipanwita Kali Puja on Saturday on the Ashram premises. The Ashram has invited people from all communities to participate in the celebrations which will begin with an Adhibhas on Friday at 6.45 pm and the rest of the celebration including the Kali Puja will follow the next day
