Four arrested

SHILLONG: Police on Thursday arrested four persons for allegedly assaulting the district administration and police officials recently at Bihari Colony, Lapalang. recently at Bihari Colony, Lapalang.

The arrested persons have been identified as Uma Shankar Rai (25), Ramji Rai (50), Suraj Rai (32) and Lallu Rai (45).

It was on October 28 at around 12.30 pm when the District Administration had conducted an eviction drive in the land of one Sylvania Kharkongor at Bihari Colony, Lapalang. Around 3 pm, a group of persons armed with iron rods chased the District Administration officials and police injuring one civilian Bilnor Kharkrang (28).

The arrested persons have been remanded to six-day police custody.
