Mawblei fire case

SHILLONG: The East Khasi Hills district police has ruled out the involvement of volunteers of the pro-ILP group in the Sunday’s fire incident at Mawblei and stated that the reason behind the fire is still under investigation.
A saw mill belonging to one L Kharumnuid of Smit was reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in the wee hours of Sunday morning damaging property worth Rs 50 lakh. “We suspect no foul play in the incident and the reason could possibly be in-house,” East Khasi Hills district police chief M Kharkrang said.
Sources informed that three employees of the mill who were staying inside the mill were left unhurt.  Though, fire tenders reached the spot, they were unable to douse the fire.
