SHILLONG: The ANVC-B has made serious allegations about the presence of a ‘mole’ in the State police who informed the GNLA militants about the movement of the five police personnel, who were killed in an ambush at Bangjakona near Kapasipara in the South Garo hills district.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, ANVC-B alleged that that the movement of police escorts was specifically informed to the GNLA.

The breakaway faction even asserted that there is a ‘mole’ who informed of a police team coming to Tura and attackers were well aware that the team was not SOT or SWAT, which gave them added confidence to attack.

The group even said that that the information gave enough time for the attackers to prepare on the way, adding that the attack revealed that the ambush team knew of the precise time when the police team would be crossing that area.

The ANVC said that the attack has given a glimpse of accessibility of GNLA into police activities, which is not going to prove safe in the long run.
