HILLONG: East Khasi Hills SP M Kharkrang has appreciated the villages of Pynursula for the fact that not even a single violent case was reported during the Pro ILP agitations whereas 82 cases were registered and 70 persons were arrested in Shillong and other areas.
Speaking at the Village Defence Party (VDP) rally organised at Nengatte, Pynursula, Kharkrang also spoke on witch craft superstition for which police had to take legal action against village functionaries.
The VDP rally was participated by more than 25 members of different VDPs including Sordars and Rangbah Shnongs of villages falling under the Pynursula police station.
SDPO Sohra Ian Swer also explained the VDPs of their role and their relationship with the police even as he highlighted various sections of IPCs and CrPC which the VDPs should know while discharging their duties.
Later, a certificate of appreciation and reward was awarded to Pongtung VDP for their good performance during the year 2012-13.
