Village girl kidnapped, raped

HILLONG: One 18-year-old girl was kidnapped and raped by two unknown miscreants in a jungle at Ronghona under Byrnihat Out-Post, Ri Bhoi on November 5.

According to the police, the girl hailing from Tandu village in Byrnihat was returning home from Guwahati after attending her afternoon computer classes by a bus till Jorabat and then took an autorickshaw from there till here house.

After hailing an autorickshaw, the unidentified driver of the auto-rickshaw (ML-10A-8768) along with one unidentified occupant forcibly took the girl to a jungle at Ronghona and raped her.

Soon after the incident, the girl managed to call her brother who was at home at that time, and since Tandu village is not far from the jungle, it didn’t take long for her brother to reach the place. On seeing her brother, the two accused, both hailing from Byrnihat fled the area and are still under hiding.

In this connection, the police have seized the above auto-rickshaw belonging to one Simon D. Sangma and the hunt for the two accused is still on.
