SHILLONG: Former Chief Minister DD Lapang has revealed that there are several MLAs who are misusing the MLA schemes.
“It is a fact that there are many MLAs have put the MLA schemes into their pocket rather spending it for the benefit of the people,” Lapang said while addressing a function after inaugurating a new school building of the Mawmyrsiang Presbyterian LP, Nongpathaw, which is implemented by Education Committee Jaiaw District Presbyterian Church on Friday.
He said that he was disheartened to see an elected representative being involved in illegal activities.
While congratulating the Education Committee for their good work, the former Chief Minister said that by looking at the building, it looked like they spent more than the amount which was sanctioned for this project.
“I feel that the MLAs should have the missionary zeal to contribute towards the betterment of the society rather concentrating for their personal gains,” Lapang said.
