SHILLONG: The three member fact finding committee constituted by the UDP to look into the controversial eviction drive at Umsawli has sought for an extension to the process.

“We are planning to seek an extension since we are yet to get all the documents relating to this case,” committee chairman Allantry F Dkhar informed here on Sunday. Earlier, the committee had been given three days time to complete its task. Informing that the documents they got from MUDA was not enough, he said that they are planning to file an RTI to avail more information on the land documents possessed by the Urban Affairs department.

“I am yet to receive the documents from the local settlers,” Dkhar said. He said that the committee is scheduled to meet on Monday before seeking an extension from the party leadership.
