DSP assaults Deborah’s driver

SHILLONG: A driver employed by Social Welfare Minister Deborah Marak was allegedly assaulted by a Deputy Superintendent of Police at Nongpoh on Friday evening. Sources informed that the DSP of Nongpoh, B Laloo, assaulted the driver identified as Bahduh for allegedly overtaking his vehicle on NH-40 at Nongpoh.

The cop assaulted the driver on the highway and later took him to the police station and again assaulted him. The driver was bringing the vehicle (ML 07B 2345) to Shillong from Williamnagar.

It was learnt that the Minister, who is currently in New Delhi, is contemplating to file an FIR against the cop, and would seek the State DGP’s intervention into the matter. When contacted, Ri Bhoi

Superintendent of Police, CVS Reddy, said that he was aware of the incident, but also informed that he was currently out of station.
