SHILLONG: The Gauhati High Court has referred the PIL earlier filed by Jaintia Youth Federation against cement companies operating in Jaintia Hills to the Meghalaya High Court.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the JYF President , P.L Majaw said that the PIL was referred to Meghalaya High Court since it has the jurisdiction over the matter.

PIL said that at least nine cement plants operating in Jaintia Hills were destroying the environment. A hearing was also held on Monday regarding the matter, JYF added.
