National level monitor accesses Umsning block
UMSNING: Due to numerous hues and cries over the lack of proper monitoring of the various rural development programmes implemented by the Union Ministry of Rural Development, the ministry has appointed a third body panel known as National Level Monitoring for biased and objective monitoring.
Thus in order to acquire first hand information and monitoring on the implementation of the various rural development programmes in the State, Abu Nazar Mazimul Islam Laskar who is one of the National Level Monitor (NLM) came to the State and inspected the implementation of rural development schemes in Umsning C&RD, Ri Bhoi District for two continuous days from Wednesday last.
During his tour, he went to Mawhati, 5km Kyrdem Kulai, Mawpun Kshaid and Liarbang village under this Block and the Block Development Officer and official from PWD and PHE department accompanied him.
The NLM interacted with the beneficiaries in all the villages to know the impact of the scheme at the grassroots level and also to verify the assets created through this different programme. Later, he also inspected various rural development programmes like MGNREGS, NLRM, PMGSY, IAY, NSAP among the others.
Through the visit of the NLM has greatly increased the level of understanding of the villagers and the official on the implementation and the objectives of various rural development schemes, during the visit it was founded that there was positive and enthusiastic response from the villagers, all the members of the VECs eagerly participated in the meeting and expressed satisfaction about the benefits derived from the various Rural Development Programmes that are being implemented in their concerned villages.
It may be mentioned that a comprehensive system of National Level Monitoring has been evolved by involving Public Spirited Senior Level Retired civil/defense service officer and academia, willing to provide voluntary service for a public cause.
The role of the National Level Monitor (NLMs) in monitoring the programme of the ministry is more vital as there has been significant increase in the allocation of fund for various rural developments and also due to increase in demand of accountability and transparency in the execution of these programmes.
