JOWAI: The Dorbar Dong of Tympang Iawmusiang, Jowai held a public meeting in the premises of its Dorball hall, Iawmusiang on the issue of cleanliness and traffic congestion in and around Iawmusiang area on Saturday.
The public meeting was attended by the West Jainta Hills Commissioner and the officer incharge Circle Inspector, D Pde besides Rangbah Shnong and elders of the locality and traders of Iawmusiang.
Adressing the gathering, PS Dkhar, the Deputy Commissioner called upon the people of Jaintia hills, particularly residents of Jowai and Traders to maintain cleanliness in the area.
“Iawmusiang is the mirror of Jaintia hills, if the area is unclean and unhygienic, it will surely reflect not only the place but the Pnar society as a whole”, Dkhar said. He also requested traders including shops owner, hawkers and bussiness operators in and around Iawmusiang to try their best to keep the place clean.
The Officer In charge, Jowai PS, D Pde who also spoke on the occasion requested all local taxi drivers and private vehicle owners to maintain discipline and never violate traffic rules so traffic congestion could be controlled in Iawmusiang area.
“Violation of traffic rules and indiscipline in driving is the main cause of traffic congestion in Iawmusiang”.
The public meeting was chaired by the headman, Embhah Khyriem.
