SHILLONG: People’s Candidate Forum’s nominee Rev PBM Basaiawmoit, who is yet to make up his mind to contest 2014 Lok Sabha election from Shillong, has drawn up his poll plank.

Issuing his ‘programme of action’ to be undertaken for five years if he is elected to Lok Sabha on Monday, Rev Basaiawmoit said his motto shall be to serve and struggle with the voiceless and marginalised for truth, peace and justice.

His programme of action includes upholding and promoting rights of every individual which includes right to life and right to livelihood without any discrimination.

“What I had brought out as my programme of action in the 2009 Parliamentary elections still stands,” he said.

He even said he would demand for amendment of RTE Act so that it does not in anyway infringe and encroach upon the rights of minority institutions to manage their respective educational educations. He also favoured creation of small states. According to Basaiawmoit, the Look East Policy will be reviewed since the present day policy excludes people of the North East from its benefits.

It may be mentioned here that Rev Basaiawmoit had unsuccessfully contested the 2009 Lok Sabha election as a HSPDP candidate. He emerged third securing 97613 votes.

Congress candidate Vincent H Pala (232270) had defeated John F Kharshiing of UDP (124402) by 107868 votes in that election.
