Govt programme implementation and monitoring panel constituted

SHILLONG: The re-constituted State Government Programme Implementation & Monitoring Committee looks to be a committee for former legislators and retired officials.

Most of the non-official members of the re-constituted Monitoring Committee are either senior or former legislators or retired officials.

A statement issued here said the non-official members of the Committee include legislators Ronnie V Lyngdoh, former legislators PW Khongjee and Adolf Lu Hitler R Marak, Grithalson Arengh, Debanjan Arengh, PSG Lyngdoh, Retired Secretary, PWD and Dr KH Lakiang, Retired DHS (MI).

Chief Advisor of the Meghalaya Government, DD Lapang, is the Chairman of the Committee while former legislator Dr Friday Lyngdoh is the Co-chairman.

The Principal Secretary, Commissioner and Secretary and Secretary of the Programme Implementation and Evaluation Department have been inducted as members while the Deputy Secretary of the Department will be the member secretary.

The term of reference of the Committee is to undertake field visits and to monitor implementation of programmes and schemes and to suggest measures to improve effectiveness of implementation.

The Committee will be serviced by the Programme Implementation and Evaluation Department which will also bear the expenditure of the Committee.
