SHILLONG: Amit Mallik of M/s PR Infra Project Pvt., Ltd lodged a complaint at Shella PS that on December 2 at about 6 am, a group of unidentified miscreants numbering eleven to twelve went to the construction site at Wah Tharia under Bholaganj Outpost and assaulted seven labourers.

The assaulted labourers have been identified as Bibishon Ram (31), Prem Sagar (30), Harendar Kumar (18), Ajay Paswan (35), Uday Paswan (30), Upender Singh (22) and Hare Krishna (35) and pushed them into the river after forcing them to take off their clothes.

As a result, two of the labourers Upender Singh and Hare Krishna sustained grievous injuries and were shifted to Civil Hospital, Shillong.

Police said that the incident happened basically because of a dispute between the Dorbar of Sobar and company officials for the construction of a 4 km long bridge connecting Bholaganj with Nongjri.

However, a meeting between the officials of the company and Dorbar of Sobar was convened by the SDO (Civil) and SDPO (Sohra) and the matter was amicably resolved.
