Felicitation

The NSS Unit of Shillong college and the principal of Shillong College, Dr KD Ramsiej felicitated Dr Jemino Mawthoh at a function held at the college. Dr Jemino Mawthoh also felicitated S Lyngdoh, NSS volunteer of the college who bagged the Indira Gandhi National Award for the best NSS volunteer for the year 2013, Nasima Begum who was awarded the best NSS volunteer at the university level for the year 2013.

Meeting

The General Body Meeting of the Meghalaya Library Association will be held on December 6 at 1:00 PM in the Seminar Hall, State Central Library, Shillong. All library professionals are invited to attend.

Gratitude

Mourning

lThe Communist Party of India mourned the death of Anjali Lahiri who passed away at Shillong on December 4. Lahiri was a social activist and dedicated her life for the uplift of the down trodden. She was a freedom fighter who faced various hardships during the freedom struggle. CPI said that with her death, the country has lost a valiant fighter.

lThe Communist Party of India, Meghalaya state Council of India has mourned the death of the third arson victim, Bisheshwar Das (Babua) of Bishnupur. The United Democratic Party- Shillong City general secretary Allantry F Dkhar also extended his condolences to the family of Late Bisheswar Das who fell victim to the heinous act perpetrated by miscreants at Bishnupur.

Workshop

ECoBiZ club of IIM Shillong under the faculty co-ordinatorship of Prof Natalie West Kharkongor along with Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) conducted a Pioneer Leadership Workshop for the local students of Shillong from various colleges and schools. The one day workshop, supported by Lions Club of Shillong, mainly focused on bringing out leaders in Shillong in the field of environment. The workshop was inaugurated by Professor Amitabha De, Director of IIM Shillong. Arun Das, President, Lions Club, Shillong and Arun Krishnamurthy, President, EFI among others were present during the occasion.
