Alleged use of land agents to purchase property

Mawryngkneng has opposed the decision of the Border Security Forces of buying land at Pommura village and Mawryngkneng at the same time, issued warnings to all the land agents to refrain from looking for lands belonging either to the locals or the Dorbar Shnong.

According to the general secretary of KSU Mawryngkneng circle, Really S Nongspung, the news on the decision of the BSF to buy land in this area was unearthed recently when the Indo-Border Bangladesh Security Force with its Headquarter at Mawpat, had through the land agents, requested the Dorbar Shnong of Pommura to provide the NOC to set up their camps there.

In this regard, the Dorbar Shnong has rejected the proposal and denied giving NOC to the BSF who had in their letter to the Dorbar Shnong mentioned that they intended to set up a Hospital, school, Football ground and other venue for indoor and outdoor games, in that area.

“There have been many BSF camps in and around the State which were set up citing the same purpose however, it later turned out to be just a camp which instead of instilling a sense of peace and security had caused so much insecurity amongst the locals and worse of all, their habit of encroaching into private land and claiming it as their own,” Nongspung said.
