Meet of Central Govt officials

Hindi as official language

SHILLONG: In order to deliberate on ways to promote the use of Hindi as the official language, a meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC), Shillong was held at Directorate General Assam Rifles, Laitkor on Thursday.
The meet was organized under the Chairmanship of Additional Director General, Assam Rifles, Maj Gen Pankaj Sachdeva.
As many as 81 officers of various Central Government offices, banks and undertakings located at Shillong participated in the meet. Head of Surgery, NEIGRIHMS, Dr Noor Toppno, Dr. G B Joshi, Regional Director, Atomic Energy Department, Shillong, Manish Mishra, AGM, FCI, M Marbaniang, Deputy  Commissioner, Customs Department, Rajat Mitra, Deputy  Commissioner Income Tax, R K Bhattacharya, Chief Manager, Central Bank and other senior officers attended the meeting.
Research Officer (Implementation), Regional Implementation Office, Guwahati, Badri Yadav also reviewed the quarterly report of various offices during the event.
During this meeting, the 8th issue of TOLIC Magazine “Poorva Prahari” was also released by Maj General Sachdeva.
While addressing the gathering, the Chairman emphasized on the need for all offices to focus on giving impetus to use of the National language and implementation of the Official Language Policy.
It may be mentioned that the responsibility of TOLIC, Shillong was entrusted to Assam Rifles in 1994 with an aim to encourage and implement use of Hindi as Official Language in Central Government Offices.
