Underprivileged families receive support

SHILLONG: The welfare committee of the Khasi vernacular daily Rupang took the initiative of distributing various essential items towards the underprivileged families including the people with disabilities.
The welfare committee organised a special function to distribute the essential items at Mawkhar Christian School here on Saturday.
The committee this year has selected five families to distribute the essential items which include Phildaris Longsiang, Poska Diengdoh from Baniun, Jerimai Pathaw from Nongtraw, Minit Kharthangkhaw of Phansawrang, Jinpor Kurbah of Weilyngkut and John Rani of Kutmadan, Sohra.
The committee had collected a total amount of Rs 24,030 which was donated by people who are concerned about the welfare of the underprivileged.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Seng Khasi Seng Kmie MF Blah lauded the noble initiative taken by the committee.
