SHILLONG: An FIR was filed on Saturday against a minor rape victim’s stepfather for allegedly raping her at Mairang  by CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, Kharshiing said that the  11-year-old  was raped  by her step father on  many occasions and the FIR was filed by the CSWO on   December 28.
“There are  no woman police personnel  in Mairang police station and the victim had to wait from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm  before assistance was sought from  local women bodies  to take her  to the CHC as there was no female relative from the victim’s side.
Kharshiing alleged that the mother of the victim was trying to shy away as she wanted to help her husband.
Kharshiing said that when she went  to Mairang, it was leant that the relatives were informed that no medical test can be done at the CHC without the mother.
“These are situations which make the victim suffer more ordeal in the hands of  authorities concerned for crimes against women”, Kharshiing said.
Kharshiing also pointed out that the police filed an FIR against her fir trying to help a 22 year old woman from harassment at her working place at Mairang.
According to Kharshiing the accused at the working place had threatened the victim with dire consequences which compelled her to withdraw the case lodged earlier. But the police filed an FIR against Kharshiing by saying that she was influencing the victim, which, however, was denied by Kharshiing.
