Smugglers, infiltrators nabbed by BSF

SHILLONG: BSF troops of BOP Bagli, deployed in South West Khasi Hills District, apprehended one Bangladeshi boy identified as Karim Sheikh (12) hailing from Bagli under Sunamganj District in Bangladesh, while he was trying to cross the international border from Bangladesh. During search, the troops recovered Indian currency worth Rs. 6,200 and around 200 Grameen Phone recharge coupons from his possession.
In another incident on January 3, troops of BOP Lailong deployed in East Jaintia Hills District, apprehended one Bangladeshi national identified as Doynal Abdin (21) hailing from  Sylhet, Bangladesh, while he was trying to cross the international border from India.
During search, party recovered 24000 betel nuts and one cell phone with one Bangaldesh SIM from his possession.
In other incidents, BSF troops apprehended three Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian nationals and seized 204 bottles of liquor, five cattle heads, forest produces and other contraband items worth over Rs. 2 lakh while they were being smuggled out from India to Bangladesh.
The apprehended persons and the seized items have been handed over to the concerned department for further disposal and subsequent legal action.
