Jaiaw Mihngi through on penalties in Open C’ship

SHILLONG: Jaiaw Mihngi FC were able to overcome Brave Heart FC (Mawlai) but only through a penalty shootout in the Meghalaya Open Football Championship, held at Malki Ground on Tuesday.
Dapynsuk Nongrum (21st minute) held the Jaiaw team take the lead in the afternoon match, but Mikel Warjri (57th) then equalised and the scores stayed level until the end of full time.
The tiebreaker was a close affair, but Jaiaw Mihngi came through 5-4.
In the earlier game on the day, Umkdait Combine FC (Nongmynsong) were 1-0 winners over Sawmer Football Team.
Charlie Nongpluh scored the winning goal in the 50th minute.
On Wednesday, Wonderers FC (Laban) will play Rangiakhun FC (Nongmynsong) at 11:00am.
Risa Combine FC will then face Hynniewtrep Combine FC (Malki) at 1:00pm.
