SHILLONG: A city court on Friday order eight-year rigorous imprisonment (RI) to one Dilip Chettri for setting ablaze the house of his ex-wife Shrak Khongtiang at Pyrnai village, Pynursla on January 27 2012.

The court of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Judicial) in the order passed on December 20 last year,said that the accused shall also be liable for another one month imprisonment in default of payment of a fine of Rs 1,000.

The house of Khongtiang was reduced to ashes in the incident and the loss was estimated to be Rs 2 lakh.
