Pro-ILP groups accept talks offer, put condition

SHILLONG: The 13 pro-ILP pressure groups have agreed to participate in January 15 talks provided the State government stops arresting its members besides releasing all those who have already been arrested.

“We are ready to attend the discussion with an open mind. But Government should show a goodwill gesture by releasing all the arrested members of all the different organizations without further delay” KSU vice-president Frederick Kharmawphlang said here on Friday.

He said Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma had earlier stated that the member of the social organizations can move freely, adding, “But unfortunately till date police action against the members of different organizations continued’.

Earlier, Dr Sangma had stated that the State Government sent the official communiqué to members of the pressure groups. When ask about the modalities of the proposed dialogue with the pressure groups, he said that they would be deliberating on the issue of influx and on the mechanism to tackle the problem.
