Abducted Mizos to reach Mizoram by Saturday

Aizawl: Two Mizos who were abducted on November 23 by an armed Bru group called Bru National Development Front from the Dampa Tiger Reserve in the Mizoram-Bangladesh-Tripura border has been released and would arrive in Mizoram by Saturday, police said Friday.
The two Mizos – Sanglianthanga and Lalzamliana, along with Deep Mondal of West Bengal were abducted and kept in captivity inside Bangladesh. “Now we were expecting Sanglianthanga and Lalzawmliana, abducted on November 23 and kept in captivity inside Bangladesh since then, to arrive by tonight (Friday) or tomorrow(Saturday) ,” the officials said.
The NLFT militants which kept the duo and Deep Mondal of West Bengal in captivity agreed to release the two Mizos on Wednesday, but refused to release Mondal.
The militants demanded a ransom of Rs five crore for Mondal’s release from the Airtel company in which the latter was a surveyor. (PTI)
