SHILLONG: The ANVC-B on Wednesday claimed to have inputs and evidence of ANVC’s contacts with GNLA, UALA and other terrorist organisations including the Pakistan Inter Service Intelligence (ISI).

ANVC-B leader Doang Shira in a statement on Wednesday said the Government must verify the truth as ANVC has been involved in a series of ceasefire violations right under the nose of the Government and the ANVC- B does not want itself to be held responsible for the same.

“The Government must seek answers from ANVC on whether they have really submitted all the weapons, or whether they have recruited new cadres during the ceasefire, and also check details on illegal tax collection and extortion especially from coal traders in Nongal, Chokpot and other areas,” Shira said.

He stated that if the peace agreement is not taken seriously and the Government does not take this as a wakeup call, then peace in Garo Hills is not going to materialise.

“With all the hidden weapons and strong contacts with foreign elements, new organisations are going to mushroom right after the final settlement,” Shira warned.
