Major international operation: CBI cracks down on hackers

New Delhi:  In first of its kind international operation, CBI on Friday cracked down on hacking hubs at multiple locations in Mumbai, Pune and Ghaziabad on inputs received from the US probe agency FBI, arresting one person under the violation of Information Technology Act. Agency sources said it is a major operation in which agencies of China, Romania and the US are jointly acting along with CBI against cyber criminals in these countries who were allegedly hacking into websites based in the US and duping people financially. The sources said agency got some crucial inputs from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on the basis of which CBI registered case under the provisions of the Information Technology Act. After registering the case, CBI carried out searches in Ghaziabad, Mumbai and Pune and one person has been arrested from Pune for alleged violation of the Information Technology Act, they said. The sources refused to share further information on the victims of the hackers or the amount which could have been compromised by them, saying searches were still going on. (PTI)

Muzaffarnagar riots: SIT files charge sheet against two

Muzaffarnagar: The Special Investigation Team, probing the Muzaffarnagar riot cases, on Friday filed a charge sheet against two persons accused of murder. The SIT filed its first charge sheet in the case related to violence in Kutba village in September in which eight persons were killed, in a local court against Kunwar Pal and Jogender, who have already been arrested, police said. Both are accused of involvement in the violence during September last year, in which eight persons were killed and 24 others seriously injured. Police registered cases against 110 persons in connection with the incident but so far only two accused have been arrested. The SIT has also sent to police a list of 37 others, allegedly involved in the incident, for arrest, but police has not yet to apprehended them. Charge sheets against them will be filed after their arrest, SIT sources said, adding that probe against the remaining 71 persons is on. Riot victims have alleged that persons identified by SIT were roaming freely in the village, creating fear. More than 60 persons were killed and over 40,000 displaced in communal violence that had broken out in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas in September last year. (PTI)

Man kills six members of his family

Lucknow: A man killed six members of his family with a hand plough in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh over a property dispute, police said Friday. The incident took place around midnight in Pilkhana village when accused Momin attacked his father Mausam Khan, 80, his brother Shaukin Khan, 60, his brother’s wife Shanno, their two children and another family member. All the six family members died on the spot. The police said the entire house was splattered with blood and the dead had multiple wounds on their bodies. Inspector General of Police (Meerut) Alok Sharma said the case appeared to be the result of a property dispute over a brick kiln. As the news of the killings spread, hundreds of villagers rushed to the spot where heavy police force was deployed. Police said the accused walked out of the house after murdering his family members as if nothing had happened. He also bolted the house from outside and when police arrived on being informed by neighbours, he told them he was on his way to his own house and was unaware of any commotion. (IANS)
