Tribal Council to rehab 2500 indigenous families

Agartala: Aiming to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the CPM ruled Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Tuesday declared to rehabilitate 250 indigenous families by way of raising rubber plantation.
Each family will get one acre of land with rubber stamps and necessary assistance to raise rubber plantation, one of the attractive rehabilitation schemes in the state.
The tribal council has already started selection of beneficiaries to under the project by 2014-15 FY, said Chief Executive Member (CEM) of TTAADC Dr. Ranjit Debbarma at a press conference held at Old Council Bhavan here.
He said the state government has already given its nod to the plan mulled by the tribal council authority. This will, of course, will be beneficial for the indigenous people economically.
Besides, the tribal council authority has also envisaged a plan to establish two re-group village where tribal families living in far flung areas will be shifted to provide rehabilitation package.
At the proposed re-group villages, basic amenities like road, education, healthcare, drinking water and livelihood will be extended by the TTAADC authority, he said adding that the state government would fully fund the projects.
“If the situation requires, the number of re-group villages may be increased. The selection of location for the re-group villages is yet to be finalized”, he said.
To prove quality education to tribal students, the TTAADC has also decided to appoint more Inspector of School in tribal council areas. “Each IS office will have two Inspectors of School for better management of schools run under the tribal council. Besides, eight to nine boarding schools will be set up in tribal areas so that tribal students get quality education”, he stated.
Apart from this, the TTAADC administration has sought at least 1000 newly recruited Under Graduate Teachers (UGTs) to appoint them in ADC runs schools.
As part of decentralization of administrative set up, one Zonal Office and one Sub Zonal Office would came up at Khowai and Ratanpur (Belonia) within very short period of time, he added.
