Chennai: The Madras High Court, while passing interim order on the issues of Juvenile Justice Act, directed Chairman, Child welfare committee, Krishnagiri to keep the children at Narendra Nambikkai Natchathiram, an NGO in Hosur, until further orders.
The First Bench comprising the Chief Justice R K Agrawal and Justice K Ravichandra Babu while dealing with several petitions regarding issues involved in respect of Juvenile Justice Act, also directed District Sessions Judge, Krishnagiri to file report after surprise visitis to the NGO where the children are accommodated.
It has to be considered and decided finally on perusal of entire pleadings and hearing of the parties elaborately, which we propose to do on another day, the bench said.
The parents of about 20 children who were at the Niveditha Trust filed writ petition to quash the orders passed by the Chairman, Child welfare committee, Krishnagiri last year transferring their children from Sri Niveditha Trust, to The Child welfare committee, Government of Meghalaya, at Shillong.
On the basis of a complaint made one Narayanan to the District Collector, Krishnagiri saying that the children who were at the trust have been trafficked, the Chairman, Child Welfare Committee has passed the orders of transferring the Children to the Child welfare committee of Meghalaya.
The children who were residing in the villages which are interior part of the different districts of Meghalaya and found difficult to get education in the villages in good schools the parents of these children on their own had willingly sent them to Sri Niveditha Trust at Hosur.
The order of transferring the children was challenged by the Parents of the children on the ground that the order was passed without any notice to them, the petitioner contended. The bench posted the matter for filing such report and for further hearing after two weeks. (PTI)
