One dead, infant grievously injured in accident

NONGSTOIN: One Pynsuklin Nongsiej (23) died on the spot while four of them including her son sustained injuries when a Maruti Private bearing a registration ML-05- F 3026 on its way to Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills fell into a deep gorge at Ksehkohlong.
The incident occurred at around 9:30pm on January 29.
Police told that the vehicle was coming all the way from Shillong on its way to Nongstoin but while reaching a big turning in Ksehkohlong the vehicle fell into a deep gorge.
Pynsuklin Nongsiej died on the spot where the body was handed over to the family.
Source told that Pynsuklin’s son who was one and a half years old was present in the vehicle at the time of accident. Pynsuklin’s son along with Teiningstone Dkhar (20) of Mawthungkper sustained minor injuries while Johnfisher Marwein (29) of Pyndengrei (driver) and Donborlin Diengdoh (35) were in a critical condition.
The duo that was in a critical condition was admitted to Nongstoin Civil Hospital but later they were referred to Shillong for better treatment.
According to police, the reason of the accident is still unknown and the Police are still investigating the matter.
In another incident, a motorist sustained injuries after falling off from the motorbike when it skidded on a turning at Thapa Darenchi under Resubelpara Block, North Garo Hills on Wednesday evening. The injured person has been identified as Menjong Sangma (35) and was shifted to Resubelpara CHC.
The 108 Emergency Service Ambulance based at the respective locations helped in shifting the injured to various hospitals.
