NONGSTOIN: The continuous breakdown of electricity supply in Nongstoin and other corners of West Khasi Hills has irked the residents, particularly the parents and students, who are preparing for their examinations.

Many parents have expressed anguish and disappointment over the frequent breakdown of electricity stating that the same has affected our children who are preparing for their 10th and 12th standard examinations.

A meeting of the KSU West Khasi Hills District Unit held here on Monday urged the concerned authorities to look into the matter to ease the tension of the parents and the students.

KSU general secretary Wellesley Lyngkhoi informed that each day the electricity supply is disrupted more than three times with a spell of 3 to 4 hours in the evening hours and for around eight hours during night time.

“The sudden decision of load shedding has come as a surprise to many since the MeECL did not make any announcement before the public. The ongoing load shedding is certainly taking its toll on students who are preparing for their examinations,” Wellesley lamented.
