SHILLONG: CSWO (I) has expressed its concern over the hawkers who have opened up their food stalls in front of the Shillong Civil Hospital.
In a letter submitted to the Director of Health Services, CSWO (I) president Irene Hujon said that the congestion has aggregated with street hawkers and food sellers are turning this place into a cook and serve area from early morning, adding their cooking arrangement is also encroaching on to the footpath and thus making the footpath extremely congested and inconvenient for pedestrians.
She asserted that the present condition may pose a health hazard to the patients who are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The Organisation has asked the Director to immediately send an inspection team to the area so as to mitigate the unhealthy situation.
