PM Syiem among others file nomination on Day 2

SHILLONG: Altogether nineteen candidates including three sitting Congress MDCs of the KHADC filed their nominations on the second day of filing of nominations on Thursday.
The three sitting MDCs, Lamphrang Blah (Mawphlang-Diengiei), Jansing Tynsong (Lyngkyrdem-Laitkroh) and Marbok Kharpran (Sohryngkham) filed their nominations before East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Sanjay Goyal.
Popular Khasi singer Anthony Kongwang from the Congress also filed his nomination from Nongshken constituency while the brother of sitting Congress legislator Ronnie V Lyngdoh, Vicky S Lyngdoh too filed his nomination paper as an independent candidate from Nongthymmai.
Among the UDP candidates who filed their nominations includes Braston Kharbuli who contested the last election from Sohiong constituency filed his nomination from Mawphlang – Diengiei.
The KHNAM candidates who filed their nominations include Elphrin Lawai from Sohryngkham and former MLA Pynshai Manik Syiem from Mawphlang – Diengiei filed their nomination papers.
In West Khasi hills, the candidates who filed their nomination papers include Congress candidates Kimfa Marbaniang from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency and Srally Rashir from Mawshynrut.
Meanwhile, Tlidingstone Wanniang of the Independent Political Group (NIPG) from Nongstoin constituency.
In Ri Bhoi district, seven candidates filed their nomination papers that included five Congress candidates and one each from KHNAM and independent.
The Congress candidates included Augustine Wahlang from Nongpoh, RB Shadap from Mawhati, Albinus Lyngdoh from Umroi, Victor Rani from Jirang and Dipul Ryntathiang from Umsning Constituency.
Others who filed their nominations in Ri-Bhoi include former HNLC James Sylliang, who is contesting as an independent candidate from Mawhati and Kedios Thongni of the KHNAM   from Jirang Constituency.
Meanwhile, candidates vying for a seat in the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) have not yet filed their nomination papers.

The second day for filing of nomination for ensuing MDC elections got underway in Ri Bhoi District, with the filing of nomination by seven candidates from five constituencies of the district, of which five candidates who filed their nomination papers were from the Congress party.
The candidates who filed their nomination paper on Thursday at the Deputy Commissioner Office includes Albinus Lyngdoh of INC from Umroi Constituency, R. Briswell Shadap (INC) from Mawhati Constituency, Victor Ranee (INC) from Jirang Constituency, Augustine Wahlang (INC) from Nongpoh Constituency, Dipul Ryntathiang (INC) from Umsning Constituency, James Sylliang (IND) from Mawhati Constituency and Kodios Thongni (KHNAM) from Jirang Constituency.
Earlier in the day, in the Congress camp before the filing of nomination the Ri Bhoi District Congress Committee (RBDCC) held a small gathering at its office in Umbuda, Nongpoh in which the meeting was attended by the MPCC supremo and Nongpoh legislator DD Lapang, ex Chief Minister and ex Jirang Constituency MLA J.D Rymbai, RBDCC president PW Muktieh, ex KHADC CEM C.B Syiem among other.
Addressing the gathering, Lapang informed that, in this ensuing MDC election the party had produced win ability top candidates in all the five constituency of the district, therefore the party has full confident to registered their victory in all the five seat in Ri Bhoi District basing on the support and trust that the party earned from the people of the District.
