crepancy in the status of completion of works related to the construction of housing units at Nongmynsong under JNNURM .

In the meeting held end of last year with the Hindustan Prefab Limited (HPL), the urban affairs department pointed out that more than 50% of the work at Nongmynsong is pending.

“As there is no progress of work for the last four months, and more than 50 per cent work is pending regarding the construction of housing units at Nongmynsong, HPL is required to either expedite the work or surrender the same and a decision to this effect should be communicated to MUDA at the earliest”, said Principal Secretary Urban Affairs P. Naik as per the brief record of the meeting held on November 12 2013.

However, a report submitted to the Centre by the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority said that the physical progress of the work is 85%.

The progress of phase 1 of the work which includes construction of 300 houses at Nongmynsong is 85%, says the report submitted to the Centre. The progress of work for the construction of 300 houses (phase 2) and external development works of phase 1 and 2 for urban poor under JNNURM at Nongmynsong is 79%, the report added.
