Markynti Swer, wife of Dr Nayan Moni Saikia has been awarded with the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Geography by the North Eastern Hill University for her thesis “Ageing of population in North Eastern Region of India with special reference to the state of Meghalaya under the supervision of Prof DK Nayak. She is the daughter of Shankur Kharnaior and Jhir Swer of Sohra.
