Guv asks Commissioner to ensure safety of North East student in Delhi

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma asked the Commissioner of Police, Delhi to ensure the safety and security of the students from the Northeast region in general and Arunachal Pradesh in particular.
The Governor, who is on an official tour to Delhi for the two-day ‘Conference of the Governors’ advised the Commissioner of Police, Bhim Sain Passi, who was posted in Arunachal Pradesh in early 1980s to understand the psyche of the people from the region and take extra care in dealing with them, official sources informed here on Saturday. The Governor suggested for exchange of programme for students and sensitization of police force for evolving better understanding of the Northeast.
The Former Lt Gen also met the family members of Late Nido Tania, including parliamentary secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Food and Civil Supplies, Nido Provitro and Ms Nido Marina at Arunachal House, Delhi on yesterday. First Lady of the state Ms Jyotsna Sharma was also present on the occasion, sources said.
Member of Parliament from Arunachal West Parliamentary Constituency, Takam Sanjay, who accompanied the family members during the meeting, briefed the Governor about the 10-point memorandum to the Prime Minister of India and others.
The Governor  suggested that Delhi Police and administration   must be more proactive and go out of their way to instil confidence among the denizens of Delhi from North East. (UNI)
