JOWAI: JHADC Chief Executive Member MB Rymbai has threatened to file a ‘defamation suit’ against the RTI activist Arlin Dkhar and 11 ‘beneficiaries’ who had lodged complaints with the Jowai Police against him for allegedly preparing false documents and forging their names to withdraw Rs.1.18 crore from the District Council funds.

In a press release issued here on Wednesday, Rymbai clarified that all allegations against him were false and baseless.

“For the first 11 months of my term as the JHADC CEM, there were no allegations against me but because it is election time now, they have levelled false allegations against me just to tarnish my image to defeat me in the election,” Rymbai claimed.

“I have done nothing wrong as is being alleged against me. They have tarnished my image in the society which has also affected my political career. I will file a defamation case against them,” the JHADC chief added.

On his alleged involvement in the land compensation scam worth Rs.1.15 crore, Rymbai clarified that the Government had cleared the full amount meant for land compensation for construction of the Jowai Bye-Pass, and reiterated that he would drag all complainants to the court for making false charges against him.
