SHILLONG: The Devotees of Sri Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture Shillong celebrated the 137th Birth Anniversary of Mira Alfassa, the Mother on Friday in the ashram campus. The celebration started with flag hoisting at 9:30am followed by a mass meditation.
The Mother was born on February 21, 1978 in Paris. From early childhood on she had mystical experience which showed her the possibility of manifesting a new consciousness uniting spiritual and material life leading to a further evolution of man. It is this new consciousness which Sri Aurobindo later defined as Supramental Consciousness.
