SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC will play their first match of the Second Division I-League against former top tier club United Sikkim on March 23 in Silchar, Assam, it was announced by the club on Friday.
Wahingdoh, who topped Group A of the preliminary round in Dhanbad last month, will be one of five teams battling it out to qualify for the next season’s I-League.
The other three teams are Kalighat Milan Sangha, Bhawanipore FC and Hindustan FC.
Each side will play a total of eight games (twice against each of the other opponents) in two phases to be held in Silchar and Aizawl.
United Sikkim received an automatic berth in the final round, with the four other teams coming through the preliminaries.
