MEGHALAYA CRIME DIARY

Theft

  • On March 1, unknown miscreants broke into the Girls Hostel at Lawjynriew, Shillong and stole one laptop computer valued around Rs. 45,000 belonging to Miss Nojayam Rum Thao.
  • On March 4 at about 1.15 pm, unknown miscreants stole one scooter (ML-05E-9220) belonging to Rev. R.B Sumer from District Council point, Shillong.
  • On March 3 at around 12.30 pm, unidentified miscreants snatched one handbag containing Rs.1,93,500 from Bhola Prasad and Anthony Thapa, while they were sitting inside their Maruti van (ML-05H-1325) at Motphran, Shillong.
  • L. Syiem lodged a complaint at Nongstoin PS that February  25, one Kotbor Nongsiej (45) stole seven logs from the sawmill of Talina K. Jahrin at Porsohsat village (WKH). Police arrested the accused.

Misappropriation

Pascal Malngiang and R. Byrjuh lodged a complaint at Mawsynram PS that one Mathos Syiemlieh, Headman of Thieddieng village (EKH) allegedly withdrew unspecified amount of money under various developmental schemes of NEEPCO for the village.

Abduction

D.L Bareh lodged a complaint at Jowai PS alleging that on February 11 at around 12 noon, unknown miscreants abducted his brother Laitluid Bareh from Khimusniang, Jowai (WJH).

Body recovered

On March 5 at about 10 am, the body of Kh. Raju Singha (33) was pulled out from the debris where he was buried alive on March 4, while he was working in a construction site at Mawkohtep village (EKH).

Assault cases

  • Bandi Thangkhiew lodged a complaint at Lumdiengjri PS that on March 4, one Stephan Nongrum and his accomplices assaulted her son at Lower Mawprem. Victim sustained injuries and was shifted to CH Shillong.
  • On March 4 around 2 pm, residents of Balmikram village (NGH) apprehended and fatally assaulted one suspected dacoit Rajesh Marak at the village.
  • On March 4 around 11 pm, unidentified miscreants assaulted Shanskhemlang Ranee (28) at Mawlonghat, Shillong.
