SHILLONG: Elvis Syiemlieh, an HNLC cadre who surrendered before the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District on Monday revealed the sufferings of HNLC cadres during their stay with the militant outfit.
Syiemlieh while speaking to media persons on Wednesday revealed that he was getting an amount of Rs 150 per month during his stay in the camp of the militant outfit in Chittagong. Unable to meet his needs, Elvis Syiemlieh left the group and started working in a plantation at Panmei where he was getting a decent amount.
He also revealed that one of the cadres of the outfit, Tensing Syiemlieh died in their camp in Bangladesh and even his family was informed about his death.
Elvis joined the outfit in the year 2003 and he feels that he wasted ten years of his life in the outfit and he appealed the youths not to be misled. He also said that there were around 15 cadres in the Chittagong camp. It may be mentioned that he escaped from Bangladesh recently but he did not deposit any arms and ammunition.
