Itanagar: The flying squad and static surveillance teams operating in Arunachal Pradesh has recovered more than Rs. 83 lakhs and other materials, allegedly to distribute among the voters by the political parties to get electors confidence in favour of the respective party candidates.
The team has been working under the guidance of the Election Commission of India (ECI) to monitor election expenditure for April 9 dual elections, has seized Rs. 83, 98,000 of cash so far with the recovery of an amount of Rs. 7,43,000 on Sunday.
Beside that a large cache of arms & ammunitions, IMFL, drugs and other materials have been seized since the implementation of model code of conduct.
A high-power committee has been constituted for election expenditure monitoring in the entire state as the ECI has declared Aruanchal Pradesh one of the most expenditure sensitive state.
Since implementation of MCC in the state, the team so far recovered IMFL 13,968 bottles, 336 bottles brandy, beer 40876 bottles, cane beer 44, blankets 1651 pieces, CGI sheets 5409 pieces, sharp weapons 266, mobiles 89, opium 40 gms, tea leaves 104 kg, ganja 4 kg, two .32 revolver with 34 rounds ammunition, two 12 bore DBBL guns with 75 numbers of ammunitions, SBBL gun 4, .32 pistol one along with 32 rounds, NP bore revolver one with 26 rounds, Tata mobile one, Scooty one, cheque books six and flags and caps of various political parties.
All the belongings have been seized to ensure clean election in the state, according to state nodal officer for election expenditure monitoring committee. (UNI)
