2nd Div I-League
SHILLONG: Royal Wahingdoh FC could not break the resistance of Bhawanipore FC as their Second Division I-League final round match ended in a 0-0 draw in Silchar on Tuesday evening.
On the positive side, the Royals maintained their clean sheet and remain level-pegging with Bhawanipore at the top of the five-team table.
Both teams won their opening encounters and thus have four points each.
The Kolkatan team’s danger man, Daniel Bedemi, was a constant threat, but was kept at bay by Loveday Okechukwu, one of Wahingdoh’s four foreign players. Goalkeeper Nikhil Bernard also produced excellent saves that stopped the opposition from finding the back of the net.
The game looked poised for a thrilling finish, but ended inconclusively.
Meanwhile, United Sikkim, who lost to Wahingdoh on Sunday, moved up to third place with a 5-2 victory over Hindustan FC on Tuesday afternoon.
RWFC now have a break of a few days before taking on Hindustan FC on Saturday.
